Scooter’s 1854th bar, first visited in 2025.

I didn’t have a chance to make it here last year, but this time I was in town for two weeks which made it a lot easier to work in. The originally plan was to ride bikes here but we happened to be in a car when we decided to stop. That was for the best, because a nearby construction project would have made biking here more of a pain than it would normally be.

There’s ample seating inside as well as a massive courtyard outside. Food is served from a kitchen around the east side of the back of the building, from what I overheard this was a fairly recent addition. They had a wide variety of beer styles and they were all good to very good.

I had Let It Be Mild (English mild ale), Damn the Torpedoes (oyster stout), Surrender Cobra (award-winning Schwarzbier), Dixie’s Heart Irish Red Ale, and Rod’s Reel Cream Ale.

We were out for a bike ride and decided to pedal our asses over to the park hotel to see what it had to offer. We noticed the outdoor beachfront bar next to the pool and decided that was a perfect place for some afternoon drinks and appetizers.

I had a Ferus Artisan Ales IPA.

We were looking for a true dive bar among a sea of touristy bars, and we struck gold with this one.

We started out indoors seated at the bar where we had a round of shots, then decided to move outside after we got our main drinks, where we managed to resurrect the previous night’s fire in the fire pit.

Apart from whatever the random shot was, I had a Fairhope 51 (Pale Ale) by Fairhope Brewing.

Restaurant with a full bar and a patio. We stopped in here for a few minutes while waiting for the seafood market next door (S&S Seafood) to cook our bulk shrimp order.

I had a (Take The) Causeway IPA by Fairhope Brewing.

Beachfront bar right at the heart of Gulf Shores. Has a full bar, an extensive food menu, and a deck overlooking the beach. Features karaoke every night. (No children after 9pm, when karaoke starts.)

I had an IPA by Good People Brewing, and an IPA by Haint Blue.

Mud Bugs

Scooter’s 1225th bar, first visited in 2018.

This isn’t the only dive in Gulf Shores, but it was the easiest for me to find. This place is quite a bit bigger than it looks from the outside. There’s a stage with a dance floor, darts, a pool table, other games, a dining aread, an island bar in the back, and an outdoor patio in the far back.

It’s a full bar, but the beer is mostly domestics with just a few local options. I had a Cheap Sunglasses (Blonde Ale) by Fairhope Brewing.
