Scooter’s 825th bar, first visited in 2010.

This place was freshly cleaned and full of hunters. We sat down alone at the boomerang-shaped bar, the hunters were all at tables waiting for the burgers they ordered.

In addition to video poker and a pool table, this bar has something that’s still rate in dive bars but is starting to turn up in more and more dive bars: free wifi.

The original Teresa’s burned down in 1993, the building we were in replaced it soon after. Teresa still owns the bar today.

After we left, B asked me if I had notice that both of the bars in this town had originally opened in 1989. “No, I didn’t notice,” I said, “but that’s a pretty weird coincidence.”

Or so I thought, until we reached the next bar…

We plopped down near the corner of the L-shaped bar that wrapped along 2 sides of the building. Our beers were served to us on astroturf coasters.

We couldn’t sit in the exact corner because of a big peanut vending machine in the corner. According to a sign on the machine, an M&M is hidden somewhere within the peanuts and if you get it in your handful you get a free drink.

The two of us plus the bartender sat for a while watching a History Channel documentary about Fort Knox.
