Scooter’s 1050th bar, first visited in 2014.

Stop #8 on our 9-states-in-1-day pub crawl, representing Kentucky.

We had planned on staying here for a little while, however two problems cropped up. The first was that we were at Touchdown Club (the previous bar) a lot longer than we had planned. The second problem was that we pulled up at WW Club only to find it closed.

Fortunately the bartender was still inside. It had been dead all evening show she had just close it minutes before we arrived. After hearing of our mission and how critical her bar was to a successful completion, she agreed to let us in for one quick round of shots.

We didn’t really get to look around, but I do know there’s a beer garden with an outdoor bar, there’s karaoke, and they sometimes grill around back.

Scooter’s 956th bar, first visited in 2012.

We had a quick dinner here Saturday evening before returning to the Lebowski Fest. Ken had a BBQ chicken breast sandwich, Nik and I had fish & chips. All of our food was really quite good. The beer selection was nice, we all tried new (to us) brews that we enjoyed.

Molly Malone’s Irish Pub

Scooter’s 955th bar, first visited in 2012.

This is one of those rare places that straddles the line between dive and upscale. There were touches of old-school rustic pub, there were touches of elegance. From the outside it seems fairly small, but the interior is mroe expansive than it looks and there is a tremendous amount of outdoor seating.

We put down a couple of Guinness each during our visit.

Wick’s

Scooter’s 954th bar, first visited in 2012.

This Wick’s location features a small old-school pub and prizes itself on its rather heavy pizzas, with a 10-pounder even being on the menu.

We had the all-meat. It was a good pizza, but with so much meat — most of it crumbled — it was pretty messy to eat!

Spent a good deal of time here throughout the weekend during the 11th annual Lebowski Fest, putting away more than my fair share of High Lifes and white Russians.

Hogs Head Bar

Scooter’s 808th bar, first visited in 2010.

Attached to a place called The Beer Barrel, this is a very clean-spacious bar in an old building downtown.

This is apparently a new place, either that or it is recently renovated, as Google Street View shows the bar under construction.

We misunderstood the signage in the parking lot next door so parked a block further away than we needed to. Turns out only some of the spaces were reserved, not all of them.

Silver Bullet

Scooter’s 774th bar, first visited in 2010.

As soon as we parked we knew this bar was more our speed. The covered patio overlooking the parking lot was filled with rough looking people, and as we stepped towards the door a very beat up car rolled up. A rather disheveled looking couple climbed out and headed into the bar with us.

We sat down at the bar near a man who seemed to recognize this couple. “I know you got no money, I’ll get yer drinks,” he told them. “But not for her, since she’s driving.”

As we worked our way through our beers, the man next to us started telling his friends a story that had a classic opening line:

“Remember how I told you about the son I didn’t know I had?”

His tale of $12,000 in back child support, an arrest, and having his license suspended kept us entertained the remainder of the visit.

As we were leaving a woman at the end of the bar who I had been talking to about out trip welcomed us to Paducah and suggested some sights to see.

Fat Moe’s Bar & Grill

Scooter’s 773rd bar, first visited in 2010.

This place was quite a bit nicer than we were counting on, a beautiful bar in a beautiful building. (We parked in the rear so my outside photo doesn’t do it justice.)

The bar is filled with music and sports memorabilia. There’s a piano and a nice beer garden. We noticed a staircase but did not investigate to see if there’s anything upstairs.
