While visiting East Forty I noticed a new place across the street, so we went over to check it out.

I had a Whiskey Barrel Stout by Boulevard.

A new brewery in downtown Blue Springs. Lots of seating inside, several games (including skee-ball), and a good sized covered patio. Plus, cool bathroom sinks!

I had a flight of their Mango HABANERO Dog Days Summer Wheat, Right Track IPA, Big Head Red, and Second Breakfast port (my personal favorite of the bunch).

Gridiron Lounge

Scooter’s 396th bar, first visited in 2007.

The Gridiron is the end point for one of the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parades, an annual tradition for over 3 decades. The parade begins across the street at the old Lowe’s Drug building and has a total length of 66 feet.

One thing that was amusing to us was the restroom. Tiny side-by-side stalls for women and men opened to a common sink. The stalls were so small that the men’s stall had a notch cut in the door so that it could be closed without hitting the toilet. The toilet itself had a makeshift tank lid fabricated out of a piece of sheet metal. A true classic.

By the way if you are a KU fan, stay away. You’ll be mocked and ridiculed until you cry.

UPDATE: Revisted on June 30, 2018. Now named The Keg. It’s been fixed up a little bit, but they kept some memorabilia from the Gridiron days. The men’s toom no longer has a sheet metal toilet tank lid nor a notch cut in the door.

Also the beer list has expanded to include more locals. I had a Hard Way IPA by Martin City.
