Re-backtracking back to where we were about to go when we realized we needed to backtrack, we came across this little dive near some railroad tracks.
We played the Bags game and made friends with this little guy sitting next to us:

Calico Cat, Independence

A customer at Down The Road had told us this morning about his lifelong ban from The Calico Cat, and I’ve heard from a number of sources about this being the filthiest, scummiest bar I’d ever see.

Well, when you’ve seen hundreds of bars, the odds are you’ve seen scummier. And I must have, because this place didn’t really seem all that bad to me.
