American Legion Post 61, Kansas City

2007 Visit: This one was hard as hell to find and took several tries. I asked several locals, they all knew about it but none could give clear or accurate directions. Google Maps led me to someone’s house. When I finally found it the mystery was solved: parallel streets both with the same name, one of which dead ends at the Legion while the other is what all the mapping sites lead you to. Once inside this was the darkest bar I’ve ever been in, and possibly the most redneck too. Hidden back behind Vivion & Compton.

Regularly hosts karaoke

2014 Visit: Much cleaner and brighter. Friendly patrons, much more so than the previous visit. And Google Maps finally has the location right, too! :)
