Scooter’s 1016th bar, first visited in 2014.

Every bar I went to today had several people drinking in it except this place, where I was all alone except for the bartender. I have since discovered that the reason for this is very likely that the bar wasn’t open for the day yet, but the bartender (who was the owner) served me anyway because he needed a break from working outside.

I’m very confused about what the name of this bar is. When I first looked it up, the liquor license said “Bear Foot Burgers & Beer”. The owner confirmed that as the name, but added “For now,” then clarified that it would soon be renamed as a Bears Lodge. Indeed, the liquor license is now listed as “Fraternal Order of Bears, Lodge 521″. Yet, adding to the confusion, the sign out front says “Cooter Brown’s Bar” and this appears to be the name they are best known by on the internet.

The bar is undergoing extensive renovation currently both outside and inside. The owner was working on the roof of the entryway when I arrived. He showed me an island bar he and his buddies had been working on — in the form of a motorcycle enclosed in a crate. The building’s attic space is being converted into an upstairs bar area, and he mentioned that in the woods out back they he is working on putting in a camping area.

The main level is fairly roomy with lots of seating, and includes a stage and a few pool tables.

Foodwise this place is well known for its burgers. They do deliver, but only when it’s possible for someone to leave to make the run..

Scooter’s 1015th bar, first visited in 2014.

This bar, which looks like it was originally a house, features an L-shaped counter and a couple of pool tables. Cooled by window units, the bartender offered to turn one on near me if I got to hot. No taps, just cans and bottles.

The jukebox was playing classic country (1950s-1970s) and most of the people in the bar were singing along.

This is one of those places where if you don’t know it’s there, you’re not going to find it. It’s about a mile away from any major road, and most online maps get the location way off.

This is a biker bar — with smoking allowed, pool tables, video poker, and darts. There are no taps that I saw, all bottles and cans. I noticed a mini fryer and a mini griddle and saw burgers advertised. As of my visit they have karaoke on Saturday nights.
