Because of Utah’s strict liquor laws, we had to sit on the restaurant side since we had kids with us. Because of even loonier Utah liquor laws, I had to go to the back to get canned beer I wanted to take home and be escorted out the back door.

Flights are also illegal here but I was allowed two samplers at a time. On-site I sampled Rigor Mortis Red, Little Hole Session Lager, Directional Smoked Porter, and Allosaurus Amber Ale. The smoked porter was my favorite of the on-site samplings.

I also took home some .50 Caliber IPA and Mama’s Milk Stout. As of this writing I have not yet tried the IPA, but the milk stout came in just barely behind the porter in my opinion.

Ray's Tavern, Green River

We arrived during an intense wind/sandstorm at “The Place For Everyone”

That tagline definitely holds true here. This great dive, the lobe bright spot in an otherwise desolate and dying town, was thriving during out visit. Locals and tourists, hipsters, bikers, families with children, outdoor enthusiasts — all kinds gathered here to enjoy some beer and some great food.

The menu is mainly burgers and steaks. The burgers may seem a little pricey considering the environs, but believe me, they are really good and well worth the cost.

The beer selection includes several local/regional brews. Be advised that due to wacky puritanical laws in the area, you must order food in order to get a drink.
